What is People to People?

The People to People Student Ambassador Program dates back to its founding by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. Eisenhower was acting on his firm belief that direct interaction between ordinary citizens around the world can promote cultural understanding and world peace. That proud legacy lives on today and continues to impact thousands of young people from all over the United States. Meet Our New York Leaders

 Shane Hendry

This is my second time traveling as a P2P leader and fourth overall as I traveled twice as a student. Traveling, meeting new people, seeing new things and trying new foods are some of my favorite things to do. I have been to 25 US states and five continents (only Australia...and Antarctica to go). I have been working at La Salle Institute in Troy, New York, where I went to high school, since I graduated Manhattan College. Since I have been back at La Salle I have also had the opportunity to coach golf, basketball and lacrosse, which I played in college. I'll be heading to graduate school this September in England.

Ann Sirago
I have been teaching for twelve years. I am currently working for Catskill Central School District in New York. Prior to teaching in Catskill, I taught for Clark County in Las Vegas, Nevada. I love teaching and can not imagine living my life without it! I've been actively involved in a variety of youth activities and committees both in my district and community. I teach workshops part time to teachers. I've been traveling for many years across the United States.  As a teacher leader with People to People, I have traveled on three programs.  They include: European Discovery, Mediterranean Traditions, and The Heart of Europe. I am very excited to embark on another Mediterranean Traditions program because it was my favorite.  My hobbies include: hiking, running, biking, reading, writing, volunteering, photography, and traveling. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
